I chose the news that talks about " Unlocking the mysteries of speech." It`s a quite interesting report about how we can talk and why talking is uniquely human. They did an experiment on many alien words that had been produced by the first candidate, and the followers unconsciously changed them piece by piece overtime. At last, they got those essential defining characteristics like the letters N, L and R describing different colors. That`s the reason why we have a system in grammar, clauses and vocabulary. No one designed English, it just happened unconsciously in the process of transmission.
My favorite dictionaries are Longman Dictionary of Contemporary English and ForBetterEnglish.com. These are two types of dictionaries. The former one provides the characters of words and aslo tells you that belongs to the British English or American English. And the latter is colloction dictionary. The colloction dictionary can be very useful when you are writing composition. It can provide you with the correct way in using a word. For example, the word, evasive, in Longman gives me the adverb, noun and phrase. And in ForBetterEnglish.com offers me the sentences that how to use the word. For example, recent questions from MPs have been met with evasive answers by the government. These are the reasons why I like these two of dictionaries.

Language is indeed fascinating. And remember that nobody "designed" Chinese or any language (except for artificial languages like Esperanto).
