I am interested in the White Australia Policy. I wanna know how come the policy ocurred? And how come it fail? Now, I write a part of what I've read. The White Australia Policy is about a range of legislative Acts of the Australian Parliament which all but excluded Non-European immigration into Australia. There are three important Acts. One is the Immigration Restriction Act (1901), another is the Pacific Island Labourers Act (1901) and the other is the Naturalisation Act (1903). "White Australia" showed up in the 1890's as an ideal to strengthen racial homogeneity and the European character of the population. Later, because of the Australia government imposing lots of extreme over-restrictive policies that led the policy fail. Discriminatory immigration policies were gradually removed between the end of World War II and 1982 with racially discriminatory aspects of the Migration Act officially overturned in 1973.
