Joanna's Homework

Many countries has a dispute whether to abolish the death penalty or not. Some countries think that every life should be respected so the death penalty is not correspond to humanitarianism. However, other countries think that it is necessary to conduct death penalty to cut the crime rate. In Taiwan, the death penalty is still exist but seldom people are really sentenced to death. Because the procedure to execute the criminals is very complicated.
In my opinion, I am strongly against for death penalty. First, I think everyone has human rights, even judges can not sentence people death penalty. Every life is very precious. The criminals can be punished to life imprisonment instead of death penalty. Besides, it has the chance that innocent people may be sentenced to death penalty. it is really unfair for those who did not commit a crime but be regarded as criminals and even be sentenced to death. In addition, I think that we can give the criminals who really regret for what he had done a new chance to be a good person. We should forgive them and give them a chance to start a new life. In conclusion, I think death penalty can not really prevent for crime. The true meaning of punishment is to educate people instead of sentencing them to death. So I think that death penalty is unnecessary.

  1. You probably know that I agree with your conclusion. However, you did not provide evidence to show that the death penalty does not prevent crime.
