There are many cram school providing English lessons in Taiwan which means that Englsih plays important role in our society. People in Taiwan put much emphases and spending much money on learning English. Moreover, many parents send their children to cram school for learning English in a very young age. These phenomenon shows that learning English has become a popular activity among Taiwanese.
Why do English play a indispensable role not only in Taiwan but also in global world? In my opinion, there are many reasons for this question. First of all, after Mandarin, English is spoken by more people than any other language, and is the native language of more than 350 million people. What's more, English is the international language of diplomacy, business, science, technology, banking, computing, medicine, engineering, tourism, Hollywood films and the best pop and rock music in the world. Last but not least, spoken English is used in the best careers, the best universities, and is increasingly being used at job interviews. So like it or not, English is a very important language to learn how to speak.
To sum up, it can't be avoid for us to learn English but we should not forget the native language
that we speak.
