I choose the news that is about “Teenage obesity link to future MS”. On average, people know that obesity can cause many health problems, such as heart disease, hypertension, diabetes and so on. Researchers today also say that getting overweight as a teenager may be linked with an increased risk of multiple sclerosis as an adult, an unfamiliar disease “multiple sclerosis” reflect into our eyes.
What is multiple sclerosis? And how it will affect our bodies? Like other confused people, many questions are keeping coming out of my mind. After trying those websites on the list, I find that Longman is much more useful. When I type the word multiple sclerosis, I can not only know its meaning, but can find other topics which are related to multiple sclerosis. What’s more, when I am confused with what preposition I can put along with the verb, and not sure with what it means, and how it uses in the sentence, there are always many clear and obvious definitions, and lots of examples behind every phrase. This website truly provides us with lots of useful information, and makes us easier and faster to get what we want to know from the dictionary.
I also find that Google image is interesting and useful when we want to look up words which are concrete. I use this website to find the meaning of multiple sclerosis, and suddenly, many pictures about multiple sclerosis show. Through those pictures showing on the Google image, I get what it means immediately. Sometimes, it is more useful and faster to make someone understand a word’s meaning by showing related pictures rather than words.
Through this lab class, I learn some new ways to look up unknowing words, and I think those websites are destined to be very helpful.
