In the lab class, I chose the news about Fidel Castro from bbc. Since I didn't know Fidel Castro well, and my most information about him was from the high school textbook, I didn't understand his state of health at first. Therefore, when I encoutered the word "intestinal", I couldn't know its meaning.
To look "intestinal" up, I found that Longman is really useful! It provided precise definition, a instructive picture (when it comes to picture, google is very useful, too), pronunciation of the word, and I can look up the even new word in the context by just 'click' twice. After konwing the meaning of intestinal, using Thesaurus helped me know many words related to instestinal, such as alimentary, ingested, and so on. Finally, British National Corpus can provide advanced learning of "intestinal", although it is too informative for me to totally absorb.
By these tools, it is uesful for my furthering learning, too. I can grasp the new words in the college's textbooks more quickly!
