I agree with experiments on animals, although many pictures show us the fact that human beings are cruel. However, many animal rights activists criticized these inhuman experiments and advocated releasing poor and piteous animals. But, when people blamed animals' sacrifices on scientists, have they ever thought that why human beings can heal from diseases? Sometimes, animals' appropriate sacrifices are essential to help scientists understand our bodies and find out the cure to cancer.
Animal rights activists always said animals are equal to human beings because they also have thoughts, feelings and lives. Yet, why they didn't request scientists test on human beings rather than animals and why scientist never test medicine on human beings if both are equal. That is the reason why I think people are selfish. Therefore, I only agree with some experiments for making us healthier. Others, like testing make-up, killing for fur coats and so on, are unnecessary because animals are not for satisfying our desires and vanities. For us, correctly, we have to take advantage of animals' bodies to improve our quality of medical science and appreciate their sacrifices.

Well, I suppose the activists would not say that because potential human volunteers *certainly* have thoughts, feelings and lives! :)
ReplyDeletePaid human volunteers are used. I had a friend who was paid 1000 pounds or so to have his heart stopped by some drug. They did start his heart up again successfully afterwards, fortunately; but if there had been a real risk that he might have died they would have had to have used animals, obviously.
